For over 30 years Atlas Tree Surgery has provided the most diversified and highest level of residential and commercial tree care in the industry. Atlas Tree contacted me about rebranding and modernizing certain collateral pieces. Although there were some guidelines put into place, for instance keeping the logo and color scheme as is, the logo was cleaned up, simplified along with providing general brand assets such as new business cards, website and catalog.
Communion with the Community is a production company with the mission of creating an open space for dialogue among residents to discuss the breakdown of marriages/relationships in modern day black communities. A logo mark was crafted that combined the words “communion” and “community” which was simplified to COMM. COMM also shares the first four letters of the word “communication.” Pairing COMM with a heart speech bubble reinforces the symbolic safe space for open dialogue this Oakland based production company strives to create.

Founder and President Jeremy Allen of Musiquito Media envisioned a rebrand for his company with an intent of bringing together a wide range of technical skills such as performing, audio engineering, videography and consulting under one company. Jeremy expressed the need for minimalism, vintage nostalgia and bold colors. Seeing how Jeremy works extensively with buttons, VU meters, and knobs a unique sound bar logo was created. The logomark kills two birds with one stone by creating the letter “M” and also symbolically representing Star Wars fighter ships. Lastly the logomark was paired with a modern and rounded typeface to tie the two together.

Although this type study is going on 5 years, it still holds it’s weight in terms of creativity. The project concept was based on form and shape. More specifically the dissection of typography with the sublimation of the human body.

Kingsborough music was forged from the soul and tradition of rock n’ roll legends before them. They breathe new life into the music that has inspired generations. They seduce with their rhythm-heavy rock n’ roll mixed with soulful harmonious instrumentation and storytelling lyrics. The lead singer Billy Kingsborough communicated the need for a logo that exhibits the characteristics of a retro feel with an updated ambience. Two separate logos were created, one more traditional and the other a wordmark. From Merchandise to Print, and Web Collateral, either one of the logos can be implemented for any occasion.
RVCA was a passion project, often times I take a company and decide to do some sort of rebrand. Whether it be the logo, advertisements, or their Interactive presence, it allows for full creative control from a micro to macro level that pushes trends, creativity and messaging to a new level. For RVCA, a redesign of their desktop website homepage and a shopper’s experience for mobile was created, by incorporating heavy amounts of white space with a unique layout and grid.

The city of Albany recently passed Tax Law NO. 2016-02, which is an ordinance permitting a general tax on the distribution of sugar-sweetened beverage products. The city wanted a logo created for an awareness campaign in order to drive consumers to make healthier lifestyle changes. The heart represents a cardiovascular healthy lifestyle, while the waves represent the city of Albany. The waves were placed inside the heart at a size relative to it’s shape creating a smile on a symbolic face. The heart works both as a standalone mark or it can be paired with any slogan being used in the campaign.

Cheap Trick is an American rock band from Rockford, Illinois formed in 1973. What started out as a backstage adventure soon turned into the sharing of wine and stories. The stories soon turned into an idea concept, a limited edition barrel of wine and label with Spoto Winery. Of all the classic Cheap Trick songs, bringing life to the hit single “Surrender” released in June 1978. A simple cursive chalk typeface was etched into the bottle (along with the rest of the label) to appeal to the genre of classic 1980’s pop culture films. By using the synonym for surrender, “Cession” gave the label a mystique feel.
Being a huge music buff, often times I’ll design band posters for shits and giggles, and started this trend some 10 years ago. Before too long I was redesigning band identities to go along with the Album Cover. The song Ghost Stories by Anthony Russo is one of those tracks that seriously fired up my inspiration. Not all of my redesigns play off the title directly, but this single deviated from the norm. It’s haunting, and beautiful: the typography to the static background, every aspect of this design relates to the style of his lyrics.
